My 3 Part Music Rant:
- “Music of today’s generation is all rubbish” This is easily one of the stupidest, most frequently spouted, pieces of shite I ever here. Music doesn’t simply deteriorate with age it evolves and changes, and most importantly expand into new and different genres. Don’t judge you’re entire opinion of a generation on Justin Bieber, search for the good music and the new music. Otherwise you’re the same people who hated Punk when it was new, or Rock, or Jazz, and you know who hated Jazz because it was new? The Nazi’s… you racist.
- “Its a shame young people only appreciate old music when it’s used in a TV show etc” …SO!? If people find out about an old brilliant piece of music why does it matter where they found it? Just be thankful they did. Unless you’re gunna say its only acceptable that they appreciated it when it was new, in which case I guess its also a shame that 90% of classical music is out of option, as well as this fucking fantastic piece by Blind Willie Johnson above.
- “I don’t like it because it’s different” I genuinely believe that music should be based upon quality, and nothing else, including genre. If you hate all of rap because the only stuff of it you’ve heard is Lil Wayne then, well frankly I don’t blame you but that doesn’t mean you should write off all of a genre. Listen to the Atmosphere’s and the Sage Francis’ of the world, otherwise you’re just missing out on a shit ton of good music.
